Volume One is a 450 page, hardbound, wedgewood blue, gold-tooled, limited edition printed on linen paper, complete with family pictures covering James Creswell Gardner's early years growing up in Shreveport, Louisiana at the Gardner Hotel, before moving to Wilder Place, and then to Elmwood, when he became Mayor of Shreveport, Louisiana in 1954.

This memoir is filled with historical pictures including many family pictures including his childhood sweetheart, Mary Ella Buchanan Gardner and his children, Ellen Gardner Caverlee and Cres Gardner along with their families who complete the family circle that Jim holds so dear.

Jim Gardner descends from a long line of political figures going back to a fifth removed great grandfather, Pierce Mason Butler and his fifth removed great grandfather, Thomas Bibb, second Governor of Alabama.

Jim Gardner is more than a political figure. He served one term in the Louisiana Legislature and one term as Mayor of Shreveport. During his tenure as Mayor he began the ball rolling to clean up the "Bottoms", in Shreveport.
